Tips for Buying Safely on Kifgo

At Kifgo, your safety and security are our top priorities. While we have robust systems in place to keep our marketplace safe, the best defense against fraud is an educated buyer!
Because you are buying from independent sellers rather than a single retail store, it is important to follow these best practices to ensure a smooth, safe shopping experience.
1. Always Pay Through Kifgo's Checkout
This is the single most important rule on our platform! Never pay a seller outside of kifgo.lk. If a seller asks you to send them money via a direct bank transfer, Western Union, or a cash app, do not do it. When you pay through Kifgo's secure checkout system, your purchase is automatically covered by the Kifgo Purchase Protection Program. If you pay off-platform, we cannot protect you or issue a refund if the item never arrives.
2. Keep Your Communications on Kifgo
Just like your payments, all conversations with a seller should happen through Kifgo's built-in messaging system. If a seller asks to move the conversation to WhatsApp, personal email, or text messages, politely decline. Keeping your chats on Kifgo ensures that our Support Team has a written record of what was promised to you in case a dispute arises.
3. Read the Shop's Reviews
Before you purchase from a new shop, take a minute to read their reviews.
Do they have a history of happy customers?
Do buyers mention that the item matched the description?
If a shop has zero reviews, that isn't necessarily a bad thing (everyone has to start somewhere!), but you may want to message the seller first to ask a question and gauge their customer service.
4. Read the Shop Policies
Because every Kifgo seller is an independent business owner, they each set their own rules regarding returns, exchanges, and cancellations. Always read the "Shipping & Policies" section on the listing page so you aren't surprised if an item turns out to be non-refundable.
5. Trust Your Instincts
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. If a seller is offering a "brand new luxury designer handbag" for $20, it is highly likely to be counterfeit. Trust your gut, and if a shop seems suspicious, use the "Report this Shop" button to alert our Trust & Safety team!
