Why Was My Credit Card Declined During Checkout?

It can be very alarming to see a "Card Declined" error when you are trying to make a purchase. However, a declined card rarely means there is a serious problem with your account!

To protect you from fraud, banks and payment processors are very strict about approving online transactions. If your credit or debit card was declined on Kifgo, it is usually due to one of the following common reasons:

1. The Billing Address is Incorrect

When you enter your credit card information, you must also provide a Billing Address. This address must match exactly what your bank has on file for that specific card.

  • If you recently moved and haven't updated your address with your bank, the card will be declined.

  • If you accidentally typed your Shipping Address into the Billing Address box, the transaction will fail.

2. There is a Typo in Your Card Details

Even a single incorrect number will cause a payment to fail.

  • Double-check that you entered the 16-digit card number correctly without any extra spaces.

  • Ensure you selected the correct Expiration Month and Year.

  • Verify that you entered the correct CVV (the 3-digit security code on the back of the card, or 4 digits on the front of an Amex).

3. Your Bank Placed a Security Hold

If you are making a larger-than-usual purchase, or if you are buying an item from a Kifgo seller located in a different country, your bank's automated fraud system might flag the transaction as "suspicious" and freeze it.

  • To fix this, simply call the phone number on the back of your credit card and tell the representative that you are trying to make a secure online purchase on kifgo.lk. Once they approve it, you can try checking out again!

4. Insufficient Funds or Daily Limits

Check your bank account balance to ensure you have enough funds to cover the total cost of the order (including shipping and taxes). Additionally, some debit cards have a strict daily spending limit. If your purchase exceeds that limit, the card will be declined.

How to Complete Your Purchase

If you have verified your details and called your bank, but the card is still failing, the easiest way to complete your Kifgo order is to simply use a different payment method, such as a different credit card, Google Pay, or PayPal!
